exim4-dev software package provides header files for the Exim MTA (v4) packages, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install exim4-dev
exim4-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the exim4-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep exim4-dev *
You will get with exim4-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
